Zulu Warrior Bust – WIP Update (Details Progress)
Zulu Warrior Bust – WIP Update (Details Progress)
3/18/20262 min read

Work on the Zulu warrior bust has progressed steadily over the past few days, and most of the major details are now in place. The focus at this stage has been on refining the surface textures and bringing more definition to the key elements of the piece.
Particular attention has been given to the headdress, which has now been further developed with more detailed feather work. Individual feather groups have been refined to improve their layering and flow, helping to create a more natural and dynamic appearance. This part of the sculpt remains one of the most visually important features, and the added texture should read well once painted.
The overall anatomy and clothing elements have also been tightened up, with adjustments made to improve the clarity of forms and transitions between materials such as skin, fur, and fabric.

An additional feature introduced in this stage is the inclusion of two weapon options. The bust can now be displayed either with a throwing spear (assegai) or with a knobkerrie, a traditional club commonly used in close combat. This provides a bit of flexibility in presentation and allows for different character interpretations depending on the chosen option.
Front and back views of the bust showing the refined pose and overall balance, now with the throwing spear option in place.
At this point, the sculpt is moving closer to the final stages. The remaining work will focus on smaller refinements, cleanup, and preparing the model for printing.
More updates to follow as the project nears completion.
